Personal Quote: "Me? You're the one who can't keep her tongue to herself." [after nearly being caught by Fez]
His story:
The group conspiracy theorist and resident troublemaker/rebel without a cause. Hyde is the son of a black dude named William Barnett (which we don't find out till the 7th season of That 70s Show) and an alcoholic named Edna, Hyde is what some people might call "white trash" (despite having a black father), though Hyde would probably prefer the term "lower-class".
His mother was a rough case to live with and she abandoned him when he was 17 (the guy her mom lived with whom he thought was his dad left him years earlier), after which Hyde reluctantly moved in with Eric, initially sharing Eric's room but later moving into an extra room in the basement. Hyde later got a job working as a clerk at the Photo-Hut, where he became good friends with the hut's owner, a middle-aged hippie named Leo; after Leo left, Hyde got another job working as a cook at a hotel opposite Roy, who had been partnered with Hyde when they were in a "big brother" program. Eric is probably Hyde's closest friend, but that doesn't stop him from "burning" (insulting/embarrassing) Eric from time to time and vice versa.
During the show's first season Hyde was infatuated with Donna, the tall, strapping red head with the throaty voice who lived next door to Eric but would occasionally confide in Hyde, but he felt kind of bad about it since Eric was his friend and he didn't want to back stab him; worked out fine for him though, seeing as how Donna clearly favoured Eric.
Initially Hyde disliked Jackie with a passion, whom he viewed as the epitome of everything he hated about the upper-class; he reluctantly took Jackie to the prom during the first season and later, when Jackie was butting heads with Eric's slutty sister Laurie over Kelso, he decided to give Jackie a few pointers on "Zen" so that she could annoy Laurie better (Hyde disliked Laurie even more and vice versa) by being indifferent to Laurie's insults; Hyde was very impressed when Jackie attacked Laurie.
At this point Jackie became infatuated with Hyde and started stalking him, which made him uncomfortable; he even got arrested covering for her holding a bag of pot! Well, he eventually gave in and went on a date with her, and when he kissed her he was very blown away, though Jackie said it didn't do much for her. So that was the end of that for a while and Jackie gave Kelso another chance, but once again it fell apart.
During the summer break between seasons 4 and 5 - when Kelso was in California - Hyde and Jackie started having an affair one hot summer afternoon in the basement watching "The Price is Right"; the combination of heat, boredom and too much "Price" drove them to each other and they started carrying on the affair in secret. They were discovered by Kitty but Jackie managed to delay the exposure by telling Kitty that Eric had gone to California to get Donna back.
Hyde and Jackie were later caught making out on the basement couch by Eric and Donna, and from there they were pressured to tell Kelso, who didn't react very well when he found out (not only did he whine and bitch about it, he actually shot Hyde with a BB gun). At first it was just a fling, but it gradually ballooned into a relationship. One of the great defining moments came when Hyde shaved his summer beard off to cheer Jackie up after her dad landed in jail. Hyde hates disco music.
